The Firm:

Level Architecture Incorporated is a team of architects, designers, and thinkers who are driven by problem solving and beautiful details. We approach each design problem as a unique study, allowing programmatic, contextual, and budgetary conditions to influence formal, aesthetic, and tectonic decisions.

The center of our work is Chicago based multi-unit developer and single family residences, but extends to include a variety of project types in locations around the United States. Level is a recent start-up built on the partners’ 25 years of experience and 10-year working relationship. We have a fun, supportive culture, where the team readily provides ongoing instruction, learning opportunities, and career guidance.

The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking ambitious, enthusiastic candidates to join our collaborative studio. Candidates will have the opportunity to work through all phases of design and construction.

Working directly with members of our team, a successful candidate will participate in, and often lead, the creation of design solutions for a variety of project types through feasibility studies, and conceptual and schematic design activities. By using an assortment of communication tools, designs will be presented, critiqued, and reiterated.

Candidates will also have the opportunity to research, specify, and detail materials, finishes, products and fixtures. They will coordinate directly with engineering consultants, often in a workflow using shared Revit models.

A successful candidate will guide a project through the construction documentation process by managing and organizing a drawing set, building and coordinating a Revit model, annotating drawings, and creating construction details unique to each project. They will be held accountable for the understanding and application of building code to ongoing design activities. They will apply for building permits and respond to comments from the city.

Candidates will observe construction activities, and work with contractors to ensure successful execution of design intent.

We value each team member’s opinion equally regardless of experience level. We ask employees to reach beyond experience and seek out responsibilities and tasks outside of their comfort zone.

Qualified candidates will be ambitious and outspoken about design with a desire to push beyond convention. They will have excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills.

We are accepting applications from candidates with 2-7 years of experience, a degree from an accredited architectural program, and working knowledge of SketchUp, AutoCAD, Revit, V-Ray, Adobe Suite, hand drawing, and physical model building. Candidates are encouraged to introduce new software and communication techniques.
